This area is just so popular these days due to the leafy streets, excellent schools and superb positioning (very close to east dulwich, peckham rye and brockley). The high street has a good line up of independent shops and some good watering holes try the the ivyhouse (london's first community owned pub and arts venue) and waverley arms.
